No Topic

A ton of people are adding J.R. to their "friends" list on various web programs since the ESPN piece. Nobody has even sent me a message. To add insult to injury... I keep getting J.R.'s stout e-mail (becuase his real first name begins with a D not a J and people don't realize this) and I have to READ people telling him how proud they are of him. Thanks guys.

Really... It's ok. I'm only a wife. I've obviously done NOTHING to serve our country.

Josie,

Your blog is amazing. Most truths are hard to recognize, and most people seem to shroud their feelings in layers of BS, but your postings cut through it all. Despite months of reading every post and being deeply moved, I haven't thanked you. I'm sure there are many others who feel the same.

As a civilian photographer, I've done two tours to Iraq and one to Afghanistan in the past couple years. It pains me that we in the media are always going to be limited in the degree of intimacy we can provide (and it seems what we do produce is becoming ever more sensationalized by layers of editors and individual agendas, stripping it of authenticity) . With your blog you pick up where we leave off. The results are profound.

You and JR take care.

I guess I have to delurk for this one. I have been reading your blog for a while now and I gotta tell you that I am so impressed (and THANKFUL) for your service and dedication. I have served on active duty and am now a mil-spouse and I can vouch that of the two positions? Being a mil-spouse is more stressful and a lot less appreciated. But I appreciate (and live) with the knowledge that without the military families... military members could not do their jobs.

So here's to you Josie. Thank you for your service from one who knows how valuable it is.

I am guilty of not commenting Josie, but please know that I thank you very much for all you have done. Your husband would not be where he is today if it weren't for you. Your service is just as important as his is. Again, THANKS...

Funny, but I guess all of us military folks at one time or another take our wives, or spouses, for granted. It's easy to call home from Iraq and assume that everything is running smoothly for my wife, when in fact she's almost certainly working much harder than I ever will out here. Yet I get all the nice emails and free cookies from the states.

Thanks for reminding me to call my wife ;o)

You know how awesome I think you are, but I am guilty of not repeating it as often as I should!!

((josie)) You are AWESOME! :o)

OK, so I haven't posted at the risk of seeming stalkerish, but Josie, you amaze me! I have no close ties with anyone in the military, although my 9 year old son is determined that he will be some day. Reading your blog is part of a weekly ritual for me. You have amazing insight and incredible wisdom for someone so young. You've already lived a life beyond those much older than you! So, *I* am proud of you (FWIW) and think that you are one of the most amazing people I've never met! (I'll go back to quietly stalking now, LOL!)

Josie - I found your blog from The Lemon Stand's Around the Blogosphere. I'd just like to say, as a fellow spouse, preach it.

But as you preach it, know that your sisters and brothers in stay-at-home arms know your own service and your sacrifice, and we appreciate you for doing your part.

I suppose I'll de-lurk for a moment as well. I do apologize for not commenting, but I did watch the program. In fact, I ran over to my neighbor's to watch it and while we commented on how far JR has come, we talked more about how difficult it must have been for you and all that you've done to support your husband.

Thank you for fighting, Josie. Your fight is a different kind, but it's still a fight none the less. Keep it up, the world needs people like you.

Dear Josie:

I'm an old fogey, so I don't belong to any of those sites like MySpace or Facebook. I'd rather just post on your web site.

Please know that, as a member of Soldiers Angels, I'll always be there for the people in the armed forces, and especially their families who don't get the credit that they deserve.

Sincerely,
RPL

I'm proud of you. For being so supportive, so understanding and so ready to give everything to help your husband. My boyfriend just returned from Iraq, so I understand the whole deployment thing and I know what it takes to get through that part of it. Doing what you have done after your husband was injured took a lot of courage and dedication. Thank you for helping your country by just being a military wife.

Nobody knows that the hardest job in the military is being a military spouse- except other military spouses.

JR's getting noticed because of his ESPN piece- something read by sports fans. Put the two of you on the Military Channel, and you can bet your damn skippy you'd get just as many messages of support and admiration as he is right now.

And we ALL know how much you've done for him and that your love and support has pulled him through many rough spots and a lot of pain.

YOU ROCK GIRL!!!!
Don't let the lack of recognition by sports fans get you down- WE know he gets his strength from you.

Hugs to ya Josie,(hope J.R. don't mind)! Your doing a great job, and it is much appreciated by more than you know.. You go Girl!

I will de-lurk as well. I've been reading your blog for a while now ever sense stumbling upon it a few months back. You are an amazing woman. Most people could not handle the situation that has been thrust upon you. I have no other words but know that this Navy wife has you in her thoughts and prayers!

Hi Josie,

When I first "met" JR, I was determined to be a logroller, and I had seen him on TV, so I found his blog, and from there I asked a million questions and we became pen pals, IM buddies. Used to chat with him for hours. Very cool dude, you are a lucky lady.

When he joined the military I was happy for him. I'm a reservist myself, but haven't gone overseas yet. Don't know if I ever will. Either way, although he fights for a different country than me, I thank him, AND YOU!

His blogs about you were great, and your blog is awesome. I'm guilty of not having said anything to you and I don't know you or have ever chatted with you, but through your blog, it feels like I do. You have done a lot, more than I can imagine, I know it. So thank you Josie. I hope someday I can meet you and JR in person. Keep up the great blog, and take care.

Add me to the list of those that are de-lurking! I have enjoyed your blog for a long time. I'm a Soldiers Angel and the Soldier I am currently looking after (so to speak) has a wife and two adorable children. I do believe she serves as well. As you did and continue to do.

Keep writing! I really do enjoy your postings - it's a great perspective.
